Pergola, artificial turf, stepping stones and a feature wall

The project
A Balmain backyard that stayed damp and patchy under shade was rebuilt around a low-maintenance surface. A pergola was built for cover, artificial turf was laid over a prepared draining base, stepping stones were set into pebbles, garden edging was installed and a feature wall was built to give the yard a defined edge.
Project details
The yard had no clear areas for sitting or moving through, so most of it went unused.
The natural lawn struggled in the shade, turning to mud after rain and browning off in summer.
There was nothing overhead, which limited when the space could be used.
A pergola was built to give the sitting area cover.
The base was excavated and prepared for drainage before artificial turf was laid, to replace the previous lawn that had struggled in the shaded yard.
Stepping stones set into decorative pebbles carry the walking route, and a feature wall gives the yard a defined edge.

Project feedback
At our first meeting Sam arrived on time and was professionally presented. He stayed for over an hour discussing various options and ideas. Sam then provided a very competitive quote for the proposed works. I love the overall result and now my backyard is just amazing.

Send photos of the space and tell us what you want it to do.
