How much does concreting cost in Sydney?

How long does concrete take to cure?

Concrete gains most of its strength within the first 7 days, reaching approximately 70% of final strength. Full cure takes 28 days. Light foot traffic is usually fine after 24-48 hours. Vehicles should stay off driveways for 7 days minimum. We provide specific guidance based on your project and weather conditions.

What's the difference between exposed aggregate and normal concrete?

Exposed aggregate has decorative stones in the concrete mix. After pouring and initial setting, we wash away the surface cement to reveal the stone aggregate beneath. This creates a textured, slip-resistant surface with natural stone colours. Normal concrete has a smooth, uniform grey finish.

Will my concrete crack?

All concrete eventually develops some cracking—it's the nature of the material. However, proper preparation, reinforcement, and control joints minimise visible cracking. We cut control joints at strategic locations, so when cracking occurs, it follows these joints and is barely noticeable rather than random cracks across the surface.

How thick should concrete be?

Thickness depends on the application. Paths and patios typically need 75-100mm. Driveways for standard vehicles require 100-125mm. Heavy vehicle areas may need 150mm+. We specify appropriate thickness for your intended use—going too thin leads to cracking and failure.

Do you remove existing concrete?

Yes, we handle demolition and removal of existing concrete as part of our service. Old concrete is broken up, removed, and disposed of responsibly. The cost is included in your quote—no surprise waste removal charges. Removal of old concrete is often necessary to achieve proper levels and drainage.

Can concrete be poured in any weather?

Concrete work is weather-dependent. Rain during pouring or early curing damages surface finish. Extreme heat can cause rapid drying and cracking. Frost during curing weakens concrete. We schedule pours for appropriate weather and have contingency plans. If conditions are unsuitable, we'll reschedule rather than compromise quality.

How do I maintain my concrete?

Concrete is low maintenance. Regular sweeping and occasional pressure washing keeps surfaces clean. Sealing exposed aggregate every 2-3 years enhances appearance and protects the surface.
