Surrounding buildings put this Camperdown courtyard in shade for most of the day, and water was pooling after rain. A drainage base was built beneath the surface, then synthetic turf was laid and edged, giving a surface that stays usable where the previous lawn had struggled.

Is artificial turf a solution for a wet courtyard?
The underlying drainage still needs assessment. Synthetic turf requires a suitable base and an outlet for water, and it needs cleaning. It should not be laid simply to hide ponding or saturated ground.
