A sloping Ryde backyard with compacted soil and uneven ground. A raised garden bed was built to take up part of the level change, the soil was prepared before Sir Walter buffalo turf was laid, and an irrigation system was installed with separate zones for the lawn and the garden beds.

Do not assume the terrace can support it. Soil and retained water add weight, so allowable loads, waterproofing, drainage and any required permissions need confirmation before design.
