Composite deck with built stairs and an insulated pergola

The project
The back door of this Dulwich Hill house opened onto sloping ground with no usable surface. A composite deck was built with stairs down to the yard, setting a level platform off the threshold, and an insulated pergola was installed over it so the space works in rain and direct sun.
Project details
The threshold sat well above sloping ground, with no deck or paved surface to step out onto.
With no cover, the area could not be used in rain or through the middle of a hot day.
A composite deck was built off the threshold with stairs down to the yard, giving a level surface where the ground fell away.
An insulated pergola was installed over the deck, which keeps the surface usable in both rain and direct sun.
